Understanding My Lab Test Results PDF Print E-mail

At your employer sponsored health screening you may have received a series of blood tests.  These preventive screening tests were done to provide you with an internal 'snap shot' of your health.

When you receive your lab results in the mail, it is important that you review them carefully.  There may be an asterisk (*) next to results that fall outside of the indicated range for your age and gender.  This is known as a reference range.

For specific information regarding your lab results and what they mean, we strongly recommend that you take your  results to a medical provider for a complete follow-up.  Your doctor is the best person for providing you with sound medical advice and possible treatment strategies.

Should you have general questions after reviewing your lab results, we have provided you with two resources to help you understand the tests you received:

  • If you would like to know more about the tests you received prior to visiting with your doctor, you may contact our Nurse Hotline at 1-800-308-1843.  Nurses are available to answer general questions regarding the tests you received. This service is provided to you free of charge by It Starts With Me.

  • You can also visit  Lab Tests Online to search for complete explanations of each of the tests you received. This comprehensive and reputable site is run by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC).

If you have any further questions, our help center is available at 1-866-932-6467 between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm MST.
